2018 BRCA Nationals
« on: December 07, 2017, 11:52:21 AM »
Hi,

Thanks for putting up the calendar for next year, good to see Wombwell on the list.

Just wondering why Aldershot is not on the calendar, as it has been quite well supported club racing wise in the past..

Sorry, I am not on facebook, so I cant post on there.

Cheers

Thanks for sorting the dates out.

It will be interesting running with the 5th circuit guys for the Halifax and Mendip meetings. Lets hope they keep the rain away at Mendip !!

Thanks JJ,

Sorry if I missed something, but I dont recall it being mentioned that we would be sharing meetings with 1/5th Circuit cars, when we discussed next year at Cotswolds, or it being a proposal for the AGM...

Would somebody from the comittee please be able to explain how we ended up sharing the meetings (in the interests of Collaboration, Strategy, Intra-organization etc as per the graphic on the BRCA website !), and also how the weekend would actually work especially Sundays.

Personally I liked our relaxed quiet (save for a few Nitro's) meetings, they will be rather different with Cars buzzing around all day...

Thanks,
Darren.

Hi Everyone,

sorry for the delay in responding.
Ok, firstly... we have a calender that it's balanced around the Uk with a new Track and covering geographically over the year. The process of arranging the National calender and meeting as well as booking in process is the main function of the commitee and the running of the section and decisions are made as such. We have done really well working with the support of the clubs to get balance with dates, which has eased the pain and to get out on time. For the meeting to where both Bikes and 5th on-road section join for two meetings.
this came about as theses section are small in numbers and do not generate enough suitable income to servive as vaible meetings. So, as a trial, and to work together to support clubs we are going to run these two meetings. Now, As these are National events for a British Championship we do need to be operating to such a standard. This doesn't mean it will be any less fun on the weekend and until out numbers improve by all working together to promote our racing we may have to share more meetings to be cost effective. Yes... it will be different  and make a change but it's a National series and WE need to survive.
The rules are being finished and going the printers and ALL information will be posted on the Main BRCA website. ALso all the information required on booking in, Classes and registration of motors.

Further information and questions use either use the BRCA ticket system on you Member profile menu or Facebook if you have it.

Happy Christmas Everyone. ;D ;D ;D

Hi
So as a section are we worse off financially, and with such low attendance from previous years that it was necessary to go down this road....or was this purely just a trial??.........if it is just a trial, was it discussed at the AGM.....or at any of the nationals?

Thank you

Has any thought been given to how this will actually work?  Do the cars guys run to the same format as us on qualifying and finals?  If not can the software manage two different formats on the same day?  Do we know how much time we will need to allow on race day to fit the required qualifying heats and finals for each class?  Defined practice times on Saturday or just a free for all? Etc etc

Personally I'm not a lover of nitro mainly because of the noise (although I believe the large scale use a different format motor) and one of the attractions of the Bike meetings is the smaller numbers attending resulting in a very informal atmosphere National Meeting.

I also didn't realise as a Section we were struggling to survive.

It will be interesting to read the comments from Halifax before booking the Mendip weekend. Hopefully things will work out to everyone's satisfaction.

I have read somewhere that both sections pay the going rate and the club receives double revenue for the meeting, can someone confirm if this is correct or not please, if both sections pay half then that is cost effective but if both pay the normal rate I fail to see how this benefits either section as the only gain is to the host club.

You are correct, the comment is included in Alan's announcement (copied below)

"Alan Leighton Chairman Bike Section " I have spent many years in the BRCA and we are all about trying to give back to the clubs, our numbers have been very steady over the last few years in the bike section and we are really only using half the available time when we run our nationals, after speaking with Darren (Darren Newton 5C Chairman) it became apparent that if our calendars could work together we could free up an extra day at clubs and offer double revenue for the day we are there"
