I'm in two minds on this one.  I think with our current qualifying system the pressure is off so you can go for three really fast laps and not worry if you make a mistake so are likely to go faster than in a race.  If we include qualifying times then why not include practice as well for the outright fastest lap?

I think it should either be the fastest outright lap in any timed session or the fastest lap recorded under race conditions i.e. not under our current qualifying system.  I know I went quite a bit faster on Saturday at Southend than I did in the races on Sunday

People do faster laps in quali than they do in Finals, for the reasons quoted.......But if its fastest lap in Finals,no problem............Otherwise like has been said it starts getting into quali's,then it will be practice...then it will be 'I popped down the track on Tuesday and did a 00.00'!! and so on!......

Quite right Simon,
So I would have thought that it should just be the race meeting which is after all, Sunday only, regardless of timed practise on Saturday.
Having the fastest lap from the whole meeting , shows a true reflection of how the speed of the bikes are progressing, year on year.
If someone broke the lap record by .5 of a second in heat 3 round 2 ,but then it rained for the finals then that time would be lost. Which is not right!

@ Richard. Just checked the times from the list of 2013, and all the superbike times were set in qualifying!!!
So the times set this year that look slower are not quire right!

Lets keep it consistent.

Well, I didn't think there was so much interest in it!
When I kept the Skippy club lap times up to date I took best lap of the Sunday only, according to the results, showing qualy and finals. No practice times. I was thinking that a record of the maximum of what a bike was capable of was what was needed, so you could get an idea if you are on the pace or not. If it was just a record of the finals, you would get a false sense of optimism by beating it!
