Venom gpv-1 rear sprocket
« on: April 23, 2015, 08:29:13 AM »
Hey guys I'm new to this so here goes
I recently brought a venom gpv-1 not knowing that the parts are now discontinued ! The rear sprocket has broken and in can't seem to get one now I was told that a kyoshio HOR rear wheel and sprocket will fit with a bit of a mod is this true ? And does anyone have one they would like to sell me ? Or any other suggestions for this matter are welcome

Hi

I have a Venom GPV-1 with a box of spares, I will take a look tonight, I may have the sprocket you need.

No experience of the Kyosho HOR bike so hope someone else can help on that.

I will have a look anyway and let you know. The sproket has never been changed on my Venom, so maybe you were unlucky.

Suggest maybe a 1/5th scale bike RC bike would be easier to ride and get spares for.

Mellonsweed : Swheels over on rcgroups just did the kyosho sprocket mod on his GPV1. The kyosho sprocket is round, but larger than the hex opening of the gpv rear wheel, so he bolted a nut to the wheel the same size as the hex opening and filed away the excess material on the kyosho sprog until it lined up. He said it went quickly and worked well.

I mounted the Kyosho swingarm (which is shorter than the GPV1) and it was offset, so it's my intention to make a conversion kit on Shapeways, so people can swap over. Of course this will require a shorter drive chain, unless I come up with a solution for that as well.

I have just about made every GPV1 part in Solidworks and have ordered the first 8 3d printed pieces. As I get my own GPV1 project running i will make a full report on it. If I am satisfied with the fit, i will make the parts available on a Shapeways store.

Hi

Sorry for delay, yes did have a rummage in the Venom parts box, and I do have a sprocket, VEN-0153, still in the bag. Let me know if you need it, no idea for cost so make me an offer, send a PM if you can please.

I see what you mean with the hex shape, think the mounting is important because the wheel bearing is in the sprocket, if the wheel is loos or out of true on the sprokect that will affect the handling I think.
